  • Drivers »

    Your primary job is to safely operate the Detering company delivery vehicle (truck, van, flatbed), to deliver material to and pickup material from customers. This involves safe and responsible driving to jobsites and respecting the customer’s property and delivery requirements. In addition you are responsible for the following:

    • Inspecting the vehicle and completing an inspection report every morning
    • Deliver a wide variety of items to different addresses and through different routes
    • Follow route and time schedule
    • Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate delivery vehicle
    • Ask for feedback on provided services and resolve clients’ complaints
    • Complete logs and reports
    • All materials returned on your vehicle at the end of your shift must be unloaded and piece counted on the shipper ticket by the driver – not left on the vehicle
    • Follow DOT regulations and safety standards

    Requirements

    • Proven working experience as a delivery driver
    • Valid professional driver’s license
    • Ability to operate vehicles in a variety of weather and traffic conditions
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Good driving record with no traffic violations
    • High school degree
    • Pass drug test
    • Clean background check
  • Warehouse Helpers »
    • Loading and securing material on the truck to avoid damages
    • Make sure all door units are tightly secured
    • Items should not be loosely placed in the vehicle
    • Help driver with directions, and call in after each stop
    • Unloading material – both at the job and at The Detering Company per company standards
    • Maintain your vehicle:
      • Vehicle are to be swept daily – both the cab and the box (trash is to be disposed of in the proper trash receptacle-not just left in the truck well)
      • Vehicle are to be washed once a week
    • Assist drivers in backing up
  • Ready Hung Door Shop Employees »

    Responsible for assembling components into door units. Components and product that will be lifted by individual may weigh up to 75 pounds and will be lifted constantly throughout the shift. Door Shop Employees are responsible for assembling interior and exterior doors, building custom doors and modifying existing door components. Must keep up with fast paced production to assure production line keeps moving. Fulfilling door orders as needed and other duties assigned as necessary. Assists in setting up machinery to specifications. Transports material to machines, places material on equipment, performs all aspects of door assembly, and removes doors from equipment. Stacks doors exiting machines; transports doors to storage area. Assists with loading and unloading of all inventory and will call customers. The Detering Company expects 100% quality to assure the product is to exact expectations prior to delivery.

    • Start of shift preventative maintenance inspection (Maintenance Manual)
    • Inspect all materials for defects or damage
    • Check for proper door style, size and handing against building ticket
    • Check all gaps and/or reveals
    • Check shipping label for correct customer name, size, style and handing
    • Checks and arranges availability of materials, tools and related components
  • Warehouse Clerk »
    • Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship)
    • Match products with sales orders
    • Receive and process warehouse stock products (pick, unload, label, store)
    • Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization
    • Complete diary logs into inventory
    • Report any discrepancies
    • Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers
    • Operate and maintain warehouse vehicles and equipment
    • Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
    • Operate a forklift or pallet Jack in a safe manner to move product
    • Stock incoming shipments
    • Report backorder to immediate supervisor
    • Perform other duties as assigned

This candidate must also demonstrate, through previous experience, the ability to handle customer questions and offer problem solving solutions, while maintaining sound judgement and appropriate stress levels.

    Experience should include a minimum of (3) years in a sales capacity within the building materials industry, preferably in the custom home segment.
